The
Delta Media Arts Program is a media training and after
school program targeting
local youth. Participants learn basic community media
production with an emphasis on documenting local, oral
history. The skills we offer include basic camera
operation, video and audio editing, as well as
distribution. These are valuable skills that work in the
real world of today.
The
Delta Media Arts Program is in the process of developing an
archive of interviews collected by the youth participants
and leading them in editing and producing a final video
which illustrates the breadth of these interviews.
Community media activities are beneficial and powerful tools
that document realities and put a human face on distressed
communities. They also build local capacity by training
youth in media techniques. Rural Delta youth have gained
marketable telecommunication skills without leaving their
home area to acquire them.
The Media Arts Program offers self rewarding creative
knowledge.
Delta Media Arts Program Goals:

sufficient/sustainable)
