What is a Credit Union?
Credit Unions are not-for-profit financial institutions
formed by individuals seeking a safe place to save money and
lend their pooled savings to one another. First Delta
FCU is the only community development credit union servicing
Quitman, Panola, Tallahatchie, and Coahoma counties.
Why do we exist?
First Delta Federal Credit Union (formerly known as Quitman
Tri-County Federal Credit
Union) is a not-for-profit,
member-owned financial institution. Established in
August of
1981, First Delta FCU was organized to meet the
needs of those who could not acquire
adequate financing from
local banks, and could only receive loans from finance
companies
charging very high interest rates. Since its
inception, First Delta FCU has assisted many families and
individuals, making loans of over $11 million dollars since
1982. Loans are made to members to consolidate bills, purchase cars or homes,
pay tuition, and to meet other pressing financial needs.
Our mission is to serve members’ needs by encouraging
savings and offering a reasonable rate of return, and
providing personal and other loans to develop or improve the
overall community. The credit union also provides
credit counseling for the purpose of empowering our
membership.
Our
goal
is to provide the best possible financial
services and products to our members at competitive rates,
and to maintain the credit union’s long-term stability.
Membership
Membership
in
First Delta Federal Credit Union is different from being a
customer at traditional banks. As a depositor of the
Credit Union, you become part owner. You own shares in
the credit union, vote for members of the Board, and have
access to all benefits as a member.
